Responsibilities
- Provide regular health and safety updates to the Deputy Technical Director, Technical Director, and Board members regarding the site conditions.
- Perform daily on‑site reviews and evaluations of design, construction, operation, and decommissioning activities at the assigned site.
- Determine the need for and participate in investigations to gather information about events or practices that have or could adversely affect public health and safety.
- Collaborate with DNFSB management and staff to resolve high‑level technical issues related to site activities and to propose policy and programmatic changes as needed.
- Review periodic assessment reports on site operations to assess compliance with selected operating standards and, when applicable, DNFSB approved recommendations.
Requirements
- US Citizenship is required.
- Suitable for Federal employment, as determined by a background investigation.

- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Engineering; acceptable disciplines include Civil, Structural, Fire Protection, Reliability, Systems, Industrial, Mechanical, Nuclear, Electrical, or Chemical.
- Mathematics and science fields may include Seismology, Materials Science, Physics, Mathematics, or Chemistry.
- Education program requirements: (1) leads to a bachelor’s degree in an ABET‑accredited engineering program; or (2) includes differential and integral calculus with courses in five of seven engineering science or physics areas: (a) statics and dynamics; (b) strength of materials; (c) fluid mechanics and hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) properties of materials.
- Or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, plus practical understanding of engineering applications; evidence may include professional registration or licensure.

Compensation
- Salary range: USD 83,696 – 196,912 per year.
