Responsibilities
- Engineering leadership: supervise and mentor a four-member CAD/Revit detailer team; manage workflows, project milestones, and deadlines.
- Structural design: perform calculations for prestressed concrete structures such as parking garages, bridges, multi-family residential, and hotels; coordinate and review outsourced design work.
- Project management: oversee multiple projects through design, checking, submission, production, and construction phases.
- Cross-functional collaboration: partner with Project Managers, Plant Manager, and QC to assist with bidding, resolve design issues, generate RFIs, address production challenges, and issue NCRs.
- Innovation & strategy: implement project optimization, develop efficient shipping/handling schemes, create camber control plans, and value-engineer design-build solutions.
- Technical oversight: generate, review, and stamp P.E. calculations and construction documents to ensure compliance with codes and company standards.
- Stakeholder communication: act as the primary technical contact for clients and participate in project meetings to maintain alignment and satisfaction.
Requirements
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) is required; able to obtain licensure in all New England states and New York.
- BS in Civil or Structural Engineering; MS preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of structural engineering experience, with at least 5 years in precast and prestressed concrete design.
- Strong knowledge of PCI Design Handbook, IBC, ASCE-7, ACI 318, and AISC Steel Construction Manual360, and ASCE-7.
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD, plus structural design software.
- Solid MS Office skills (Excel and Word).
- Proven leadership ability to manage a technical team and communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders from shop floor personnel to project owners.
