Senior Electrical Design Engineer
Job Description
Based onsite in Greenville, South Carolina, this Senior Electrical Design Engineer role leads electrical engineering and design efforts on large-scale heavy industrial projects. It is a hands-on, senior position that blends technical leadership with cross-disciplinary coordination and client-facing responsibilities across the full project lifecycle. A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience are required, with eligibility to obtain PE licensure required.
Responsibilities
- Lead electrical engineering and design activities for large-scale heavy industrial projects
- Apply the National Electrical Code (NEC) to electrical distribution systems, equipment specifications, hazardous area classifications, grounding, and lighting design
- Coordinate closely with mechanical, process, and other engineering disciplines to ensure complete and accurate project scope development
- Review general arrangements, P&IDs, and process equipment lists to define electrical scope
- Develop load lists and single-line diagrams
- Prepare motor elementaries
- Design electrical room layouts
- Create grounding plans and details
- Produce lighting and power plans with raceway routing
- Prepare cable schedules and electrical equipment specifications
- Integrate electrical design activities into overall project schedules and coordinate logic ties with other disciplines
- Work directly with process equipment vendors to review documentation and identify electrical design requirements
- Travel to client sites as needed to gather field information and collaborate with client electrical counterparts
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Eligibility to obtain PE registration is required
- Minimum 10 years of relevant electrical engineering experience with a strong emphasis on consulting engineering
- Extensive experience leading electrical project teams, including engineers and designers
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Analytical, detail-oriented thinker with strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience mentoring and developing other electrical engineers
