Job Description

GM is seeking a Data Analytics Engineer to design and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards, analyze data to support Global Supplier Quality and Development, and drive data-driven decisions across APQP and supplier quality processes within a hybrid in-office/remote setup.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize modern data analytics and BI tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Excel, SharePoint, Python, and Oracle SQL Developer to perform advanced data analysis and deliver reports and dashboards for GM's Global Supplier Quality and Development team.
  • Support leadership in data driven decision making by building reports and tools that aid in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
  • Assist Supplier Quality Launch Engineers by reporting on Component Readiness Valves (CRV), Production Part Approval (PPAP), and Run at Rate processes across the Global Vehicle, Powertrain, and Software Development Process (GxDP).
  • Lead the integration of the Supplier Process Change Request (SPCR) into Supplier Quality value streams, ensuring accessible data for stakeholders to act on change requests quickly.
  • Help Supplier Quality Engineers analyze Quality Performance Rating (QPR) metrics to identify trends and failure modes using custom KPIs.
  • Capture functional and technical requirements from engineers and leadership to create drill-down capable reports suitable for users at various organizational levels.
  • Design, develop, validate, and publish Power BI reports using DAX and Power Query M to collect, clean, and organize data.
  • Build dashboards with effective visualizations such as histograms, bar and pie charts, and line plots to convey analysis results for leadership decisions.
  • Perform ongoing maintenance and updates of reports deployed to Power BI Service.
  • Schedule report refreshes to maintain accurate and timely data availability.
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities to deploy reports from Pre-Production to Production environments through Change Requests.
  • Create reports in Excel using Pivot Tables, Data Models, and formulas.
  • Develop VBA macros to automate data entry tasks and streamline report creation.
  • Use Oracle SQL Developer to write SQL queries, explore data tables, and identify relevant fields to achieve reporting goals.
  • Wrangle data to extract the necessary fields for report construction.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert on Supplier Quality systems such as SPPS, SQMS, and SCMS in cross-functional projects.
  • Identify data system errors and recommend changes or updates to improve accuracy and reliability.
  • Hybrid Work Policy: three days in-office and two days remote; must be able to report to a local GM office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field
  • Two years of experience as a Data Analyst or in a related role
  • Two years of experience with Microsoft Excel
  • One year of experience with Microsoft Power BI
  • One year of experience with SQL and Oracle
  • One year of experience with Microsoft VBA macros
  • One year of experience with Microsoft SharePoint
