New College Grad - Field Engineer

In this New College Grad Field Engineer role at Flatiron Construction Corp, you will support active construction work by supplying technical engineering information and helping ensure projects meet engineering standards, codes, and contract requirements from start through completion. The position includes coordination of schedules, materials, documentation, field layout, and quality and compliance on site.

Responsibilities

• Meet daily with project crews to review the production schedule and confirm that all materials, equipment, and resources are available to keep work on schedule and within budget.
• Collect, coordinate, and analyze shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements, and project data throughout the project to support quality and compliance.
• Provide technical input to the project work plan and scheduling, including identification of risk elements related to production, materials, equipment, or processes that may affect budget or schedule.
• Evaluate daily production results, schedule status, and budget projections to track project performance accurately. Document daily activities using Company approved methods and technologies.
• Submit accurate project quantity inputs and manage cost coding using assigned project cost codes so project financials are reported correctly. Coordinate cost coding with Company finance and accounting teams regarding employee time, materials, equipment, and subcontractor needs.
• Review and approve daily timecards for construction crews. Collaborate with the Office Manager, payroll, and job construction supervisors to resolve timecard questions as needed.
• Review project specifications for quality assurance at the beginning of work, during construction, and after completion. Initiate and manage certificates, inspections, and other required documentation for construction production on the project site.
• Work with construction crews and engineering leaders to plan field layout, ensuring utility and commercial lines are marked before production begins. Initiate and manage permits required before work starts.
• Assist with design drawing development and provide technical input when required.
• Coordinate subcontractor work methods, scheduling, and staffing as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required.
• Construction engineering experience or knowledge required.
• Beginner knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawing and specifications, building materials, and applicable standards for the project.
• Ability to take responsibility, interface effectively, and communicate with others.

Compensation & Location

• Location: Columbus, TX (onsite)
• Salary: USD 76,000 - 80,000 per year
