Platform Engineer (Starburst/Trino)

Responsibilities

• Act as the Starburst Enterprise subject matter expert for the team
• Execute cross‑environment queries spanning cloud and on‑prem data sources
• Design and implement federated analytic environments
• Integrate data lakes and data warehouses into analytics workflows
• Tune distributed SQL execution for faster results
• Enable high‑performance analytics across platforms
• Facilitate data access for AI and ML use cases

Requirements

• In‑depth understanding of Starburst Enterprise and Trino architectures
• Proficient SQL query optimization and performance tuning capabilities
• Hands‑on experience with data lake technologies such as Iceberg, Hive, and Delta Lake
• Experience deploying on Kubernetes and containerized platforms
• Proficiency with one or more cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Experience with connector integration and resolving data federation issues
• Knowledge of JVM memory management and cluster resource tuning
• Security and access controls integration (LDAP, SSO, RBAC, Ranger)
• Infrastructure automation experience using Terraform, Helm, or scripting
• Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and clear customer communication
• Active Secret security clearance required
