Senior Fullstack AI Engineer
Job Description
Hybrid, long-term W-2 contract in Richardson, TX for a Senior Fullstack AI Engineer. This role focuses on building and delivering enterprise AI platforms and applications with LLM and agentic capabilities, including end-to-end ownership from architecture through production delivery. Work includes 2 days onsite per week, with the remainder remote.
What you’ll deliver
- End-to-end design, architecture, and delivery of enterprise AI platforms and applications featuring LLM and agentic workflows
- Reusable AI services, SDKs, and frameworks that support scalable development
- Production-ready, modular backend systems for agentic workflows
- Evaluation frameworks that cover quality, safety, and business impact
- Operational readiness through best practices in observability, logging, monitoring, and incident response
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end design of AI platforms and applications
- Define model strategy across providers (OpenAI, Google) and model sizing (small vs. large)
- Design scalable systems using RAG, multi-agent frameworks, and workflow orchestration
- Incorporate knowledge graphs, hybrid search, and semantic caching
- Evaluate and implement emerging AI technologies, including LLMs, multimodal models, and real-time systems
- Set best practices for prompt engineering and versioning, along with model evaluation
- Lead design reviews, architecture decisions, and coding standards
- Mentor and lead AI/ML engineers and data scientists
- Partner with product and business stakeholders to identify high-impact AI use cases
- Drive complex AI initiatives from concept through production
- Ensure responsible AI practices, including bias, privacy, and compliance
- Optimize performance and cost through model routing, caching, and infrastructure design
- Define and maintain SLAs/SLOs while ensuring scalability and reliability
Requirements
- 8+ years in Software Engineering, ML Engineering, or Data Science
- 3+ years working with Applied AI / LLM systems
- Proven experience in a technical leadership role
- Strong production experience with Python and/or TypeScript
- Cloud-native architecture experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Experience with distributed systems, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD
- Hands-on experience building LLM applications, including prompting, tool use, and multi-agent systems
- RAG architecture experience, including vector databases and retrieval optimization
- AI evaluation, monitoring, and observability experience
- Proven ability to architect and scale AI systems in production
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and mentor teams
- Ability to communicate complex AI concepts to technical and business stakeholders
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience with coding assistants such as Cursor, Codex, or Windsurf
- Multimodal or real-time AI applications (voice, streaming, UI agents)
- Exposure to AI evaluation frameworks such as LangSmith and OpenAI Evals
- Background in highly regulated or privacy-focused environments
- Experience shaping AI strategy or building AI capabilities at scale
