Senior Machine Learning Engineer
Job Description
Build enterprise-ready generative AI in a hybrid role that blends hands-on engineering with research-heavy product work. This position supports dependable large language model services, retrieval capabilities, and coordinated agent systems, with an emphasis on deployment, scaling, observability, and responsible use. The role is based in Boston, MA (hybrid), with the work described for a hybrid position based in Nashua, New Hampshire.
What you’ll do
- Work as a deeply hands-on individual contributor, engineering AI-driven product features that help professional users search, synthesize, and act on complex information.
- Develop resilient services and platform patterns designed for large-scale, distributed machine learning workloads.
- Create orchestration layers that connect LLMs, retrieval services, tools, and agent-based processes.
- Partner with product engineering, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity teams to meet enterprise standards for speed, availability, and protection.
- Turn advanced AI research into dependable product capabilities that can be used across a broad enterprise platform.
Key responsibilities focus
You will help power generative AI applications for research-heavy professional workflows. That includes building and improving large language model services, semantic retrieval components, and coordinated agent systems, while contributing to technical foundations for operational needs such as deployment, scaling, monitoring, and responsible use.
What you bring
- Significant experience developing and productionizing machine learning solutions.
- Hands-on expertise with large language models, autonomous agents, and multi-step AI workflows.
- Strong command of retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, vector indexing, and semantic search.
- Understanding of model release processes, experiment tracking, monitoring, and other MLOps practices.
- Professional Python engineering experience.
- Experience operating distributed workloads in AWS and Kubernetes.
- Background building products for legal, regulatory, publishing, knowledge-management, or similarly content-intensive environments.
- Experience requirement: 12+ years in software development, or 8+ years of development experience combined with a doctoral degree.
- Education: Degree in computer science, artificial intelligence, engineering, or a related technical discipline.
