General Dynamics Information Technology offers a mission focused cybersecurity role supporting the U.S. Department of State. This hybrid position is based in Bossier City, LA and emphasizes hands on engineering, risk management, and incident response through modern security tooling.
Responsibilities
- Engineer and operate security applications including Tenable, Splunk, McAfee, and related tools.
- Assess, test, recommend, coordinate, monitor, and maintain cybersecurity policies, procedures, and systems, covering infrastructure and access management for hardware, firmware, and software.
- Ensure security plans, controls, processes, standards, policies, and procedures align with applicable cybersecurity standards.
- Identify security risks and exposures, determine root causes of violations, and propose measures to prevent recurrence and strengthen defenses.
- Develop techniques for conducting risk assessments and compliance audits, evaluate hardware, firmware and software for security impact, and investigate incidents such as intrusions or leaks.
- Triage security events and coordinate incidents with the Incident Management Team, IT operations, network engineering, and application teams.
- Diagnose and analyze problems using historical data to isolate root causes.
- Participate in security engineering work, validate system configuration and hardening, and assess classified information systems.
- Support security posture assessments and stay current on cyber trends, threats, and vulnerabilities.
- Develop, integrate, and maintain security toolsets and notify leadership of recurring issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Arts or Science or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of Tenable experience.
- 5+ years of endpoint protection software experience (Symantec, McAfee, or CrowdStrike).
- 2+ years of Splunk experience.
- Exposure to, or ability to learn, ticketing and reporting processes.
- Exposure to, or ability to learn, Linux and Windows environments.
- CompTIA Security+ Certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.

Salary and Benefits Information
The likely salary range is $88,130 to $115,000 per year. Compensation is determined by experience, location, and contractual requirements and may fall outside this range. Benefits and total rewards information are available on request.
Work Requirements
- Years of Experience: 5+ years of related experience; may vary based on technical training, certifications, or degree.
- Certification: CompTIA Security+ CE.
- Travel Required: Less than 10%.
- Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship Required.
