Job Description

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is hiring an AI and Machine Learning Engineer for a hybrid role based in Spring, TX. The work centers on high-performance computing and evaluating Large Language Model performance on HPE GPU servers, including benchmarking, workload analysis, and technical documentation. The role includes an average in-office presence of 2 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and configure complex IT infrastructure components, including servers, storage, and networking.
  • Develop software scripts and configurations to automate deployments.
  • Research, assess, and improve the performance of Large Language Models running on HPE GPU servers.
  • Conduct system-level analysis of server workloads on multiple HPE platforms executing deep learning and machine learning code, with attention to accelerated hardware and high-speed networking such as InfiniBand.
  • Write white papers and other guidance documents related to AI workload evaluation and model selection.
  • Collect and review system performance data, logs, and traces to understand workload behavior.
  • Build software and scripts to analyze AI workload performance datasets.
  • Communicate technical outcomes effectively, including providing clear summaries for non-technical colleagues.
  • Partner with software and hardware stakeholders to optimize systems and address performance issues.
  • Document and report issues identified during system testing and evaluation.
  • Provide timely updates to management regarding project status and concerns.
  • Deliver guidance to less-experienced staff members.
  • Run AI and HPC benchmarks.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or Systems, or a relevant field.
  • 5+ years of experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence and 5+ years in HPC.
  • Experience running NCCL, HPL, and AI benchmarks.
  • Experience with containers and distributed deep learning and neural networks, including transformers used in generative AI projects.
  • Experience with high-performance computer servers, high-performance networking, and related software, including resource managers such as Slurm.
  • Experience with Weka I/O, NFTS, and Lustre File Systems.
  • Programming experience in Python, C, and C++.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Scripting, process automation, and CI/CD are strongly desired.
  • Ability to operate as a self-starter with minimum supervision in a semi-remote setting.

Education

A Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or Systems, or a relevant field.

Salary Range

USD 120,500 - 276,500 per year
