AI Engineer

Cloud9 Esports is seeking an AI Engineer in Los Angeles to ship scalable LLM and machine learning capabilities across its production software ecosystem.

• Build, optimize, deploy, and maintain machine learning models and LLM solutions for live production software at scale
• Apply production engineering standards by defining and refining system architecture and maintaining complex systems across the tech ecosystem
• Design and maintain ETL pipelines to support efficient data processing and ingestion
• Support quality and reliability through documentation, unit testing, and ongoing code review and debugging
• Collaborate on technical partner initiatives, including custom tool development, hackathons, and showcasing advanced technical integrations
• Develop AI tools for content and fan engagement such as content creation, automated generation, social media engagement optimization, and personalized experiences for the Club9 program
• Apply AI to game and performance use cases using game data across League of Legends, VALORANT, and other major titles
• Partner with coaches and performance staff to build user-facing tools that improve player training, scouting, and coaching strategies
• Implement AI automation to streamline internal workflows across finance, marketing, partnerships, and operations
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• 2+ years of experience
• Local to Los Angeles (onsite role)
• Technical familiarity with Python, SQL, and Git
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and data modeling
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Familiarity with SDLC best practices, CI/CD, and production standards
• Knowledge and interest in esports, specifically League of Legends and VALORANT
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders (coaches, marketing, external partners)
• Comfort operating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Growth-oriented, self-directed mindset focused on meaningful technical challenges
• Ability to apply technical intelligence to real-world problems with incomplete information
• Willingness to learn new tools and frameworks as technology needs evolve

• Master’s degree is a plus
