Job Description

Lockheed Martin Corporation seeks a Senior AI/ML Engineer Staff to lead the development and deployment of AI technologies across the enterprise. Based in Moorestown, New Jersey with optional remote work, this role combines technical leadership with mentorship, delivering AI-enabled solutions for internal teams, business areas, and customers. The position balances hands-on engineering with strategic oversight across the system development lifecycle and across facilities or remote settings.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of AI-driven technologies and products that provide distinctive capabilities for internal teams, business units, and customers.
  • Engage in all phases of the system development lifecycle, including requirements generation, system and software design, development, integration, and deployment.
  • Conduct activity across the spectrum from early research and proofs of concept to prototype development, demonstrators, and production handoff.
  • Apply current AI paradigms such as computer vision, deep learning, and reinforcement learning.
  • Assume technical lead responsibilities, own critical tasks, and mentor junior engineers.
  • Work at any major Lockheed Martin facility or remotely.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in the field.
  • Proficiency in Python and libraries such as NumPy, OpenCV, Scikit, Pandas, and LangChain.
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks including PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, MXNet, and Caffe.
  • Experience with network and messaging technologies (UDP, ZeroMQ, RESTful API).
  • Proficiency in C++, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS, GO, and other compiled languages.
  • Experience with NLP and Large Language Models (LLMs).
  • Experience interfacing with databases (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.).
  • Experience with modern computer vision, image processing, and data analysis techniques.
  • Experience in high-performance computing, embedded systems, edge computing, or AI deployment.
  • Experience with neural network architectures and their computational requirements, including deployment on embedded/edge devices.
  • Experience with large-scale software architecture and the transition of prototype software to production.
  • Experience leading large technical teams and building AI agents or training/deploying ML models.
  • Experience developing applications on Windows and Linux.
  • Creative and resourceful problem-solving abilities.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

Ability to Work Remotely

Full-time remote telework: The selected candidate will work remotely full-time from a location other than a Lockheed Martin designated office. Periodic travel to a Lockheed Martin office may be required for meetings.

Work Schedules

4x10 hour days, with 3 days off per week. Lockheed Martin offers several alternate schedules for flexibility, in addition to Paid Time Off benefits.

Pay Rate

The base salary range for major metro areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $152,900 to $264,960. For other states, the range is $132,900 to $234,370. The salary reflects location, scope, responsibilities, and candidate experience and is provided as a general guideline.

Washington State PTO Details

Non-represented full-time employees accrue at least 10 hours per month of PTO and at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented employees accrue vacation and sick leave in addition to holidays, prorated based on start date.
