Civil Engineer II/III
Job Description
The Town of Timnath is seeking a Civil Engineer II/III to join its Public Works team in Timnath, Colorado. This role supports municipal infrastructure projects across the project lifecycle, from early concept and design through construction coordination and closeout. The Town will determine whether the position is staffed at the II or III level based on education, experience, certifications, and professional licensure.
Responsibilities
- Manage capital improvement and infrastructure projects, including roads, trails, drainage systems, utilities, multimodal facilities, and other public improvements.
- Review engineering plans, development applications, drainage reports, utility plans, traffic studies, permits, and construction documents.
- Coordinate across developers, consultants, contractors, utility providers, special districts, regulatory agencies, and internal departments.
- Perform technical analyses, engineering calculations, plan reviews, and field investigations.
- Support construction administration, including inspections, pay applications, change orders, project documentation, and project closeout.
- Assist with long-range infrastructure planning, capital improvement programming, asset management, and budgeting.
- Respond to resident inquiries and help resolve real-world infrastructure challenges in the community.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for Town leadership, boards, commissions, and the Town Council.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff, consultants, and project teams.
- Lead complex and high-profile infrastructure programs and provide senior-level technical review and engineering recommendations.
- Oversee stormwater, drainage, floodplain, utility coordination, and regulatory compliance programs.
- Serve as a project manager for major capital improvement projects.
- Mentor engineering staff and contribute to strategic planning and department initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience in municipal engineering, public works, land development, capital projects, transportation, utilities, stormwater, construction management, or related disciplines.
- Strong project management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT), Fundamentals of Engineering (FE), or Professional Engineer (PE) credential.
- Experience with municipal infrastructure systems, development review, transportation, drainage, stormwater, floodplain management, or utility coordination.
- Experience managing consultants, contractors, budgets, schedules, and capital projects.
- Software experience with GIS, CAD, Bluebeam, project management, permitting, or asset management.
Position Leveling
- Engineer II: Typically requires approximately 5+ years of progressively responsible engineering experience.
- Engineer III: Typically requires 8+ years of experience, significant project management responsibilities, and a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Salary: USD 96,168 - 126,942 per year. Location: Timnath, CO (onsite).
