Job Description

Based in Catonsville, Maryland, this onsite Cybersecurity Engineer role supports the Community College of Baltimore County's computing and network infrastructure. You will help secure systems, respond to incidents, and drive improvements across on premises and cloud environments. The position carries a salary range of USD 71,029 to 117,400 per year and requires at least one year of cybersecurity or IT experience along with a Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity.

Responsibilities

  • Perform administrative and technical work to secure and support the College’s computing and network infrastructure.
  • Conduct periodic risk assessments of data systems and business processes, identify vulnerabilities, evaluate acceptable risk levels, and propose mitigations to reduce exposure.
  • Respond to security incidents, conduct forensic investigations, and coordinate incident resolution and end-user training.
  • Install, configure, and manage Access Control Lists (ACLs), firewalls, and other security appliances to safeguard institutional data.
  • Review, test, and recommend security enhancements to protect and monitor college business processes in both on premises and cloud hosted solutions.
  • Educate the College community on current network and information security processes and procedures.
  • Assist with implementing security measures to protect the College's computer systems, networks, and data.
  • Provide technical support for the College’s academic cybersecurity program.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in cybersecurity with a minimum of one year of cybersecurity or information technology experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity.
  • Experience securing operating systems, networks, and various applications at an enterprise level.
  • Cybersecurity certifications are preferred.
