The Senior Cybersecurity Systems Engineer will lead cyber architecture, evaluation, testing, and compliance for C5ISR ground combat vehicle programs, working onsite in Sterling Heights, MI on a long-term contract with potential conversion to a direct hire.
Compensation
USD 65 - 72 per hour
Responsibilities
- Lead cyber-related tasks and decisions to integrate cross-functional technical scope within schedule and other constraints, guiding the project team toward a balanced, unified, and compliant cyber design across the vehicle system.
- Develop and promote platform level cyber-physical design best practices, tooling, and training across the engineering organization, collaborating with cross-functional teams to establish a culture of cyber security awareness.
- Create and manage system requirements and interface allocations, covering Performance, Space, Weight and Power-Cooling (SWaP-CRaM), and ensure their enforcement across the design team; prepare system specification and compliance documentation.
- Coordinate requirements, architectures, and system designs and handle changes, inputs, and tradeoffs to reach final resolutions.
- Lead and support trade studies and structured decision processes for system and subsystem design, evaluating space, weight, power, cost, reliability, and performance across the cyber vehicle suite.
- Oversee the development of verification plans and manage their execution across test, production, and field site validation activities.
- Lead design and integration troubleshooting and RCCA activities, and resolve problem reports or test incidents across production, development, testing, or modification programs.
- Develop and assess milestone artifacts and Contract Data Requirements List (CDRLs), ensuring technical accuracy and contract compliance.
- Coordinate with platform Design IPTs when interfaces are required, including threat analysis, interface development, and requirements decomposition and compliance.
- Assess new cyber and C5ISR technologies for potential integration into product lines.
- Lead and participate in peer reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or an equivalent field; relevant cyber certifications or management credentials may be considered.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with engineering and/or military programs.
- Proficiency with Cameo Systems Modeler and SysML diagrams.
- Embedded systems engineering with cyber domain focus.
- Experience performing Threat Analysis and Risk Assessment (TARA).
- Experience conducting Cyber Tabletop Exercises (CTTX).
- Compliance with federal standards such as NIST SP 800-37 and NIST SP 800-53.
- Prepare and maintain System Security Plans (SSPs), Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms), and related documentation.
- Experience leading technical development teams.
- Experience in military vehicle development and integration.
- Ability to translate high-level customer requirements into technology-level specifications.
- Experience developing and managing system-level cyber requirements.
- Familiarity with electrical line replaceable units (LRUs) and the development and troubleshooting of electronic hardware.
- Experience with cyber warfare, offensive and/or defensive operations.
- Experience with embedded systems in automotive and military contexts.
- Experience applying software and computer science principles.
- Familiarity with cyber-physical system security requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project).

Type of Position
This is a long-term contract role with no fixed end date. Conversion to a direct hire may occur as early as 6 months, depending on performance and business needs. While direct hire is not guaranteed, it is a common outcome for high-performing contractors, and many in this role transition to permanent positions over time.
