HVAC Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
Contract HVAC Mechanical Engineer role focused on research, design, fabrication, and installation of HVAC mechanical equipment for large system replacements and facility renovations at ORNL.
Responsibilities
- Research, design, fabricate, and install HVAC mechanical equipment aligned with client requirements
- Provide design consultation for HVAC system and equipment across a range of project types
- Survey sites prior to fitting heating, ventilation, or air conditioning systems
- Plan placement of pipework, ducts, and control panels
- Install HVAC components
- Complete quality checks to confirm systems operate efficiently and safely
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience with HVAC systems and Mechanical Engineering
- Associate’s degree in mechanical engineering or HVAC systems
- Experience with large system HVAC replacements and facility renovations
- Bachelor’s Degree in HVAC Systems or Mechanical Engineering
- US citizenship status: Yes/No
General scope
- Prepare detailed scopes and cost estimates for HVAC system and facility renovation projects at ORNL
- Support on-site work activities tied to surveying, planning, and installation tasks
- Communicate findings professionally and may need to present outcomes to the lab director
Work arrangement
- Hybrid schedule based in Oak Ridge, TN 37830
- On site for at least a few days each week
- Possibility of some work from home hours
Job type and compensation
