Machine Learning Engineer
Job Description
BMW seeks a Machine Learning Engineer in Mountain View, CA (hybrid) to explore and build AI driven solutions using ML, Generative AI, and large language models, develop prototypes and PoCs, collaborate with internal and external teams, and contribute to IP and BMW's AI strategy.
Responsibilities
- Identify and define novel AI powered solutions leveraging machine learning, generative AI, and large language models.
- Construct prototypes, proofs of concept, and new features to demonstrate practical value of AI applications.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to research, design, and assess AI solutions that enhance in vehicle and mobility experiences.
- Contribute to establishing core intellectual property relevant to future BMW products and services.
- Share insights within the international research community to shape BMW's global AI strategy and influence future directions.
- Identify emerging technologies and integrate advanced AI techniques into prototype systems and future architectures.
- Support strategic decision making by delivering actionable insights and helping stakeholders understand AI technologies, influencing R&D and Centers of Competence.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in electronics, computer science or a related field.
- Strong programming experience in AI and ML toolchains (Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, LangChain, LangFlow, Kotlin or equivalent).
- Proven ability to present and defend technical solutions to internal and external teams.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong problem solving and the ability to decompose complex problems into manageable steps.
- Experience in building and running cloud based applications (MLOps).
- Minimum of one year of professional experience in technology or a related field.

What you should bring
- Master’s degree in electronics, computer science or related field.
- Proficiency in programming languages relevant to AI, ML and application development (e.g. Python, PyTorch / TensorFlow, LangChain, LangFlow, Kotlin or similar).
- Confident in presenting and defending technical solutions to internal and external teams.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to abstract and break down complex problems in manageable portions.
- Experience in building and running Cloud Applications (MLOps).
- At least one year of relevant professional experience in the tech industry or a related field.
