The Data Center Design Engineering team brings together Architects, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Fire Protection and Controls engineers to design secure, efficient data centers that meet stringent uptime and safety standards. This role focuses on fire protection design across AWS data centers worldwide, combining prescriptive and performance-based approaches to elevate our safety and design standards. The position carries a salary range of USD 136,600 to 184,800 per year, with opportunities to grow as you contribute to critical infrastructure at scale.
Responsibilities
- Drive enhancements to design standards and project approaches across the organization.
- Collaborate with third party design vendors to review concept designs and in-progress work to ensure alignment with established standards, local codes, and AHJ requirements.
- Provide high quality fire protection engineering guidance on a global portfolio of projects, coordinating with international teams to harmonize designs and objectives.
- Coordinate with construction, commissioning, and risk management teams to respond to requests for information and value engineering queries.
- Oversee construction documents, code compliance, design and installation standards, water supply evaluation, testing, inspections, and submittal reviews. Engage with AHJs as needed to secure approvals for fire protection features.
- Travel as needed, up to 25 percent of the time.
Requirements
- 6+ years of data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience.
- 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities, including data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance.
- Experience researching and evaluating new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities.
- Experience applying local codes, NFPA standards, ICC requirements, and other fire protection industry practices.
- Licensed Fire Protection Engineer.
