Machine Learning Engineer Graduate (Commerce Ads) - 2027 Start

Start 2027 onsite in San Jose and help power TikTok Commerce Ads with scalable machine learning systems. This graduate role focuses on building state-of-the-art models that improve ads ranking quality and support advertisers with better marketing strategy optimization. You will work on problems tied to relevance, quality, and delivery to end users, using modern ML tools and strong engineering foundations.

What You’ll Do

• Build highly scalable machine learning systems and develop new machine learning models to improve ads ranking quality and optimize advertiser marketing strategies, including work such as click-through rate prediction, conversion rate prediction, intelligent format selection, and user journey optimization.
• Explore, develop, and experiment with new features to improve model accuracy.
• Apply ads platform objectives to modern machine learning approaches that improve ads relevance, quality, and the quantity delivered to end users.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and cross-discipline partners to help shape next-generation shopping experiences on TikTok.

What You Bring

• Completing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Strong programming skills, including Go, C/C++, and Python; familiarity with basic data structures and algorithms; experience working in a Linux development environment.
• Analytical thinking and essential knowledge and skills in statistics.
• Theoretical grounding in machine learning and deep learning concepts and techniques (for example, CNN, RNN, LSTM).
• Familiarity with the architecture and implementation of at least one mainstream ML framework (TensorFlow, PyTorch, or MXNet).

Compensation

Base salary range: $128,000 - $256,000 annually.

Preferred Qualifications

• Good understanding of at least one domain: ads bidding & auction, ads quality control, or online advertising systems. Familiarity with one or more terms such as CPC/CPM, CTR/CVR, Ranking/Targeting, Conversion/Budget, Campaign/Creative, Demand/Inventory, DSP/RTB.
• Experience with resource management and task scheduling for large-scale distributed software (for example, Spark and TensorFlow).
• Relevant work or research experience in search and recommendation.
