Network Information Security Engineer/Analyst

A on-site role in American Fork, Utah, invites a Network Information Security Engineer/Analyst to safeguard the district’s network, servers, devices, and data from cyber threats. This contract position emphasizes security operations, incident response, and governance to maintain IT compliance and protect student and staff information.

Responsibilities

• Advise and recommend account security features and configurations to ensure essential security measures are in place for technology purchases and overall network protection.
• Conduct security testing, review results, and propose best practices in collaboration with Technology leadership to identify vulnerabilities across session, presentation, and application layers of the OSI model.
• Investigate and document security breaches and other cyber incidents to prevent recurrence.
• Maintain manuals and electronic records such as permission levels, network IDs, licenses, and work logs for documentation and audit trails.
• Monitor network security systems to ensure vulnerabilities are addressed and threat hunting activities are pursued.
• Participate in and advise on decision making related to security of network devices, servers, user data, antivirus and malware protection, and e-mail security, contributing to procedures and policies for protecting district resources.
• Attend meetings, workshops, and trainings to collect or share information needed to perform job duties.
• Perform initial security assessments of servers, switches, and router configurations, including installation, testing, configuration, password assignment, and imaging.
• Prepare written materials such as procedures, documentation, reports, and memos to document activities and provide reference.
• Provide training on general computer use, security, software applications, and file server operations to promote efficient technology use.
• Research current and emerging technologies to analyze district technology needs.
• Respond to requests for help, repairs, training, and upgrades via phone or e-mail, coordinating accordingly.
• Respond to inquiries from district personnel with technical advice and operational assistance.
• Advise the Student Data Security Committee to ensure proper protocols for securing student data.
• Collaborate with IT support staff district-wide to monitor enterprise security and identify threat vectors across network resources.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient operation of the work unit.

Experience
