Senior AI Engineer

The Senior AI Engineer role at David Joseph & Company focuses on delivering production-grade AI agent systems for the CFO office workflow. The position is backend-heavy (with full-stack responsibilities in practice) and spans context engineering, prompt design, tool use, evaluations, guardrails, and user experience aligned with finance stakeholders.

Role Scope

Own a finance domain end to end, guiding development from context engineering and prompt design through tool integration, evaluation workflows, safety guardrails, and UX for the resulting systems. This role also emphasizes replacing manual finance activities with AI agent capabilities used directly within CFO office processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead finance domain delivery end to end, covering context engineering, prompt design, tool use, evaluations, guardrails, and the UX surrounding those components
• Partner with controllers, accountants, and CFOs to transition manual processes to production-grade agent systems

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years building and shipping production AI agents
• 4+ years of backend or infrastructure engineering experience
• Research background in ML, NLP, or AI agents
• Early-stage startup experience (pre-seed to Series B)
• Ability to work on-site in NYC, six days per week during startup hours

Compensation and Employment Type

• Salary: USD 170,000 to 220,000 per year
