22nd Century Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Top Secret-cleared Full Stack Software Engineer to support an FBI contract. The role focuses on designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend and frontend components using Python and FastAPI, with on-site work based in Lorton, Virginia. A minimum of five years of backend experience and an active TS clearance are required, with compensation in the range of USD 180,000 to 190,000 annually.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, high-performance applications.
- Build and manage RESTful APIs and backend services using Python and Java.
- Develop asynchronous and distributed systems leveraging task queues and messaging frameworks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following established best practices.
- Debug, troubleshoot, and optimize application performance.
- Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to system design.
- Ensure high code quality through unit testing and end-to-end testing.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for systems and processes.
- Work within Agile environments and actively contribute to sprint planning and reviews.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in Python.
- Solid understanding of JavaScript and frontend frameworks, specifically Vue.js.
- Experience with FastAPI.
- Hands-on experience with Celery for asynchronous task processing.
- Strong understanding of SQLAlchemy for ORM and data modeling.
- Experience with PostgreSQL.
- Knowledge of MongoDB (NoSQL databases).
- Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized applications.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes for orchestration and deployment.
- Proficiency in Git and experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bamboo, Bitbucket).
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies.
- Experience in unit testing and end-to-end testing.
- Knowledge of object-relational mappers and data modeling.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to create clear and concise technical documentation.
- Experience designing and building REST APIs and data access layers.
- Experience with queues and task management systems and scalable distributed architectures.
- Experience with microservices architecture and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) is a plus.
