Senior Data Scientist (Internal Audit Product Engineering)
Job Description
Join a team focused on data-driven internal audit outcomes. In this onsite role in Winchester, VA, you’ll deliver technology-enabled insights and audit analytics by building and improving audit-focused data products, automations, and AI-enabled capabilities across the audit lifecycle. This position supports Internal Audit’s strategic objectives and decision-making through reliable models, population-based analytics, and continuous monitoring.
Compensation: USD 99,400 - 155,850 per year.
Work schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and enhance data products, data pipelines, analytical models, dashboards, and automation solutions supporting Internal Audit analytics and decision-making
- Design, build, and enhance agentic AI and workflow automation solutions using AI technologies to improve efficiency in audit processes
- Partner with auditors, business stakeholders, and technology teams to understand requirements and translate business needs into scalable analytical solutions
- Support audit initiatives including automated control testing, population-based analytics, continuous monitoring, and audit automation
- Use modeling and trend analysis to analyze data and provide insights
- Apply best practices for ethical AI while improving data and model solutions
- Transform data into charts, tables, or other formats that enable effective decision making
- Build working relationships with team members and subject matter experts
- Lead small projects and initiatives
- Use effective written and verbal communication to document and present analysis findings to diverse stakeholder groups
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in exploratory data analysis
- Basic understanding of the business and operating environment
- Strong foundation in statistics, programming, data modeling, simulation, and advanced mathematics
- Hands-on experience with one or more: SQL, R, Python, Hadoop, SAS, SPSS, Scala, AWS
- Experience with model lifecycle execution
- Technical writing
- Data storytelling and technical presentation skills
- Research skills, interpersonal skills, and sound judgment
- Working knowledge of procedures, instructions, and validation techniques
- Experience with communication, critical thinking, collaboration, and relationship building
- Problem solving skills applied as problems and issues are identified
- Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or similar quantitative field
