Job Description

Good Harbor Group is hiring a Senior HVAC Engineer to support projects in the Greater Boston area from an onsite, in-person work location in Charlestown, MA. This role combines technical ownership with leadership across design, documentation, coordination, and construction support, with benefits that include 401(k), dental and health insurance, and paid time off. Salary is from $150,000.00 per year.

What you’ll do

You will serve as the Lead HVAC Engineer on assigned projects, overseeing engineering quality and execution. You will coordinate HVAC technical work with project managers and team leaders, guide designers and drafters, and support client-facing discussions throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Act as Lead HVAC Engineer on assigned projects and oversee all engineering aspects.
  • Coordinate technical aspects of projects with project managers and team leaders.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to designers and drafters.
  • Represent the organization during client meetings and project discussions.
  • Assume project management responsibilities when appropriate.
  • Design heating, cooling, ventilation, and exhaust systems.
  • Participate in project meetings, site visits, and facility walk-throughs.
  • Conduct site surveys and existing-condition assessments.
  • Coordinate with consultants and other engineering disciplines.
  • Prepare engineering narratives, reports, construction drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Perform field visits and prepare field reports.
  • Review Requests for Information (RFIs) and contractor submittals.
  • Prepare construction bulletins and support projects through the construction phase.
  • Review contract documents, drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Participate in conceptual design reviews with senior technical leadership.
  • Help ensure projects remain on schedule, within scope, and within budget.
  • Follow established QA/QC procedures, completing quality-control reviews.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (BSME) or an equivalent engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years of HVAC design experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical building systems.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience is a plus.
  • Highly desirable experience designing HVAC systems for: Healthcare, Biotechnology, Laboratory, Higher education, Commercial, Institutional, Office, Mixed-use residential, and Hospitality.
  • Strong understanding of: HVAC system applications, state building codes, energy codes, NFPA requirements, construction documentation, and engineering specifications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain strong client relationships.
