Senior Software Engineer
Job Description
Senior Software Engineer opportunity supporting government aviation training programs at Whidbey Island Naval Air in Washington, onsite.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, document, test, integrate, and modify operating systems and application software for aviation training systems
- Create, troubleshoot, and update specialized utility programs and applications supporting real-time systems
- Support hardware and software development planning for incorporating hardware and software modifications into aviation training systems
- Build software solutions by assessing information needs, coordinating with users, analyzing systems flow and data usage, and following the software development lifecycle
- Evaluate operational feasibility across analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions
- Document and demonstrate solutions using documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments, and clear code
- Assist in leading junior software engineers in performing and supporting assigned duties
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship required
- Active DoD Secret clearance required to start
- Bachelor’s degree in electronics or computer engineering, computer science, or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years practical software development experience related to modeling and simulation within training systems domains
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Windows and Unix flavors such as Linux
- Familiarity with software development and diagnostic tools
- CompTIA Security+ CE preferred; if not currently held, obtain within 6 months of date of hire
