Job Description
Oceaneering invites you to join as a Spaceflight Hardware Systems Engineer, P3 level, on the JETS II contract supporting NASA JSC. This onsite role in Houston sits within the Power and Propulsion Projects scope and emphasizes requirements engineering, system verification, and interface management in an aerospace setting. You will operate in a collaborative, team-driven environment and maintain a professional relationship with NASA customers and other support contractors while contributing to mission-critical lifecycle activities.
Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, review, and maintain requirements and verification plans for spaceflight hardware programs.
- Prepare materials for system lifecycle phases such as SRR, PDR, and CDR.
- Collaborate with team members to identify risks, articulate risk statements, and help plan risk responses.
- Conduct and review system-level architecture trade studies and analyses that influence overall design and performance.
- Utilize a requirements management tool such as DOORS, Cradle, or Jama to manage project requirements.
- Create and manage requirements for multiple projects, including flow down from NASA programs to contractor projects and interface definitions between subsystems, up to verification closeout.
- Work in a team environment, reporting progress to the team lead and raising issues as needed.
- Maintain a professional relationship with the NASA customer and other NASA support contractors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 5 to 10 years of related experience.
- Experience with NASA JSC Flight Hardware Life Cycle, Certification, and Engineering processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication across multiple disciplines.
- Background as a Systems Engineer in a NASA, DoD, or aerospace environment.
- Experience with requirements management, verification and validation definition and execution, design trades, risk analysis, and system analysis of space hardware.
- Ability to prepare written documents and present at meetings.
- Familiarity with SharePoint and Microsoft Office products.

Preferred
- Basic knowledge of space hardware concepts, including mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings, material selection, and design software/tools.
- Working knowledge of NASA, JSC, and ISS standard practices and requirements including safety, fault tolerance, and related disciplines.
- Familiarity with NASA/JSC documentation databases and SharePoint sites, as well as typical systems engineering software products.
- Experience in technical or team leadership roles.
