Job Description

Apple’s Creativity Apps team is looking for a Sr. Computer Vision & Machine Learning Engineer in Cupertino, California (onsite). In this role, you will design and deliver agentic workflows and user-facing ML capabilities for creative tools, with a focus on building, evaluating, and integrating vision models and LLM/VLM-powered agents.

You will partner across teams to move ML-powered features from concept to delivery, while supporting model runtime and orchestration integration for the experiences creators rely on.

Responsibilities

  • Design agentic workflows that use vision, LLMs, and VLMs to solve multi-step user problems, including tool contracts, schemas, and orchestration logic.
  • Build state-of-the-art vision models, covering data collection, architecture design, and training.
  • Develop evaluation frameworks for agentic workflows, including task success metrics, benchmarks, and regression testing.
  • Work with client teams to integrate models and workflows into model runtimes and orchestration frameworks.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to take ML-powered features for creators from concept through delivery.

Requirements

  • PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • Experience deploying agentic systems to production, including work related to AI reliability, safety, or benchmarking.
  • Experience fine-tuning LLMs or training adapters for foundation models.
  • Experience optimizing models for resource-constrained platforms, ideally with Core ML, Swift, and iOS/macOS.
  • Strong patent and publication record at top conferences.
  • Keen interest in the art and science of photography.
  • MS in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field, and 4+ years of industry experience delivering products in generative AI, machine learning, or computer vision.
  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of machine learning and deep learning.
  • Experience building and evaluating LLM/VLM-powered agents, including tool use, multi-step reasoning, planning, and context management.
  • Hands-on experience building, training, and deploying transformer-based vision models, GANs, or related methods.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and/or C++, and deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow.
  • Creative problem solver with strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Committed to encouraging an open and inclusive work environment.
