The Principal Systems Engineer, Chemical Process Integration leads systems integration and architecture oversight for energetic manufacturing projects, bridging chemical process engineering with civil, construction, and systems design to deliver scalable, safe, and compliant plant facilities. This hybrid role is based in Kingsport, Tennessee, with regular on-site collaboration across manufacturing environments.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on large-scale capital programs to align goals and requirements.
- Bridge chemical process engineering with civil/construction and systems architectural design to ensure cohesive solutions.
- Create and maintain system requirements, validation plans, and technical interfaces throughout the project lifecycle.
- Guide projects from concept design through commissioning and qualification, ensuring smooth transitions between phases.
- Address complex technical challenges with innovative, compliant solutions aligned to organizational objectives.
- Maintain safety, throughput, and regulatory compliance across all lifecycle stages.
- Define and manage the system architecture to integrate multidisciplinary engineering efforts.
- Maintain a regular presence in manufacturing or fabrication environments to ensure practical alignment.
- Demonstrate the ability to access production areas and comply with PPE and safety requirements as prescribed.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in Chemical Engineering or Systems Engineering.
- Relevant training outside these disciplines may be considered.
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
- Additional experience may qualify for more senior roles or reduce requirements for junior roles.
- Experience in the design, operation, or construction of industrial or government facilities with a solid understanding of process flow and equipment integration.
- Experience developing technical specifications and requirements documents to align stakeholders and vendors.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: USD 96,623 to USD 164,259 per year. The range reflects market pay structures and may be influenced by factors such as local market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications.
