The role is based in Raleigh, NC, onsite, with responsibility for both circuit design and the hands-on work needed to bring boards up, test, and support manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Design and validate analog and mixed-signal circuits, including power supplies, signal conditioning, sensing inputs, and protection.
- Create schematics and PCB layouts in KiCad, incorporating design for manufacturing and design for test considerations.
- Design and build production and engineering test fixtures; automate fixture workflows using Python and C.
- Support new board bring-up by debugging hardware and firmware issues in collaboration with the firmware team.
- Manage hardware revisions, BOMs, and release files in Git, and assist the contract manufacturer during builds.
- Identify and qualify replacement components for obsolete parts or items that are difficult to source.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of hardware engineering experience, including at least one design taken from prototype to production.
- Strong analog and mixed-signal fundamentals, including experience with op-amps, ADCs, signal conditioning, and power circuitry.
- Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout.
- Experience designing hardware around microcontrollers such as STM32, ESP32, PIC, or similar devices.
- Working knowledge of communications interfaces including SPI, I2C, UART, and CAN.
- Ability to use Python and C to write test scripts and develop simple fixture firmware.
- Hands-on bench experience, including use of an oscilloscope, DMM, and logic analyzer, along with fine-pitch soldering and rework.
