Job Description

The Director of Finance will lead financial operations for a commercial and industrial power-equipment business serving architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) sectors. This hands-on role supports inventory-heavy operations through accounting leadership, FP&A, cash-flow management, operational analysis, and direct partnership with senior leaders.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare timely and accurate monthly financial statements and management reporting for executive leadership
Develop annual budgets and rolling forecasts, delivering visibility into expected revenue, profitability, cash flow, and capital requirements
Manage and analyze inventory valuation, inventory aging, turns, purchasing activity, equipment profitability, and working-capital requirements
Partner with Sales and Operations to assess deal economics, pricing, gross margin, commissions, project costs, and profitability
Build financial models and analyses for inventory purchases, major transactions, financing decisions, investments, and strategic growth initiatives
Improve cash-flow forecasting and working-capital management across accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, purchasing, and customer and vendor terms
Establish and maintain financial controls covering purchasing, inventory, payments, collections, revenue recognition, commissions, and capital expenditures
Create dashboards and KPIs for revenue, gross margin, profitability, cash, AR, inventory, backlog, sales performance, and other key business drivers
Review existing financial systems and processes and implement improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, scalability, and visibility
Manage relationships with banks, lenders, insurance providers, tax professionals, auditors, and other external financial partners
Ensure compliance with applicable accounting, tax, reporting, and regulatory requirements
Support executive leadership with strategic planning, scenario modeling, investment decisions, and long-term financial planning
Build and develop the finance and accounting team as company needs evolve

Advanced Excel and financial-modeling skills, with strong experience using accounting or ERP systems
