Job Description

Genesis (Columbia Debt Recovery, LLC, dba: Genesis) is seeking a Software Engineer to help build and maintain core software systems for its debt recovery operations. This role is onsite in Phoenix, AZ and focuses on full-stack development, system integrations, automation, and data pipelines that support internal teams and workflows.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain applications and services, including backend services, APIs, and user-facing tools such as features for the Genesis Console used across all departments.
Use AI coding assistants and agents to prototype, write, test, refactor, and review code for correctness, security, and maintainability.
Integrate internal and external systems, connecting the collection platform, payment processors and banks, telephony and dialer tools, HR and finance systems, and third-party APIs to reduce manual exports and rekeying.
Design data models and APIs that support financial, compliance, and operational workflows with accurate, auditable, and well-documented data.
Automate repetitive tasks such as reconciliations, reports, file transfers, and approvals, including creation of reliable automated workflows and dashboards (including Power BI).
Support security and compliance by implementing security-focused development practices, including access control, logging, and audit trails aligned with PCI DSS, GLBA, SOC 2, and client requirements.
Maintain reliability by owning testing, monitoring, deployment, and documentation so others can run and extend the systems you build.
Collaborate with leadership and department owners to plan and deliver work, participate in code reviews, and share AI workflows and best practices with the team.

Requirements

3 to 6 years of professional software engineering experience, with a track record of shipping production systems end to end.
Strong backend skills in Node.js, TypeScript, Python, or similar, along with working knowledge of React or a modern front-end framework.
Experience with relational databases such as Postgres or SQL Server, REST or GraphQL APIs, and cloud platforms including AWS or Azure.
Hands-on daily experience using AI coding tools (examples include Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot) with the judgment to trust, verify, or reject generated output.

$90k - $120k/yr Full time Backend Developer Ai Coding Assistants Developer

This position is no longer accepting applications (closed Sep 19, 2026).

Job Description

Prometheum is building a fully remote engineering team focused on delivering end-to-end customer impact. As a Software Engineer 2 (Full-Stack), you will take ownership of features from Product handoff through delivery, release, and ongoing stakeholder communication.

This role spans a TypeScript/Node back end and a React front end, with a strong emphasis on rigorous testing, clear progress reporting, and early risk identification. You will work in partnership with Product, QA, and UX throughout delivery, not only at handoff.

What You’ll Do

Own epics end to end after handoff from Product, covering story writing and pointing through delivery and release
Build across Prometheum’s TypeScript/Node back end and React front end, tackling large, complex problems within your team’s scope
Report epic progress regularly and accurately, and raise risks before they become surprises
Partner with your Product Manager and senior engineers on technical design and architecture decisions
Use AI coding tools as part of your default workflow, reviewing outputs with the same rigor applied to your own code
Lead company-wide demos of the work delivered by your epic
Review teammates’ code to catch design concerns, edge cases, and test gaps
Participate in scrum ceremonies including refinement, sprint kick-off, standup, demos, and retro
Work directly with Product, QA, and UX throughout delivery
Investigate and resolve issues found in QA, UAT, and production

What You Bring

3 or more years of professional software engineering experience shipping production software
Strong TypeScript or JavaScript knowledge with real depth in both Node.js and React
Experience carrying substantial work from ambiguous requirements to released software
Comfort with relational databases, SQL, and reasoning about data models
Experience with microservices, Docker, and a cloud platform such as AWS
Automated testing practiced consistently rather than added after the fact
Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants, plus judgment to determine when outputs are incorrect
Clear written communication and strong command of English for a fully remote team
Ability to reason through technical disagreements using evidence and update your view when evidence changes
Authorization to work in the U.S. or Canada
Ability to pass a comprehensive background check, required for this role

Bonus Considerations

Experience mentoring or onboarding other engineers
Background in finance, brokerage, trading, custody, or blockchain
Exposure to regulated environments and required audit trails
Experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar

Salary range: $120,000 to $150,000 plus stock options
