AI Engineer
Job Description
Eastern Bank seeks a junior to mid-level AI Engineer to build and scale enterprise AI capabilities across the bank, developing AI agents and automated workflows, building retrieval and prompt systems, and enabling AI tool integration within embedded business divisions.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and sustain AI agents and automated workflows using Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI Services, Power Platform, and SharePoint.
- Develop scalable retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines and robust prompt-engineering frameworks.
- Prototype and operationalize AI solutions to streamline day-to-day banking operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to map business processes, identify pain points, and scope automation opportunities.
- Translate non-technical requirements into clear technical specifications and solution designs.
- Act as a trusted technical advisor to support embedded AI initiatives across business units.
- Build and optimize retrieval systems, prompt architectures, and agent workflows for higher accuracy and effectiveness.
- Assess AI solutions using user feedback, performance metrics, and business outcomes to drive improvements.
- Contribute to governance for enterprise AI tools, including access management, usage policies, and documentation.
- Uphold responsible AI practices with attention to data privacy, security, and regulatory standards.
- Assist in administering and enabling AI platforms across the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 1 to 4 years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, machine learning, or a similar technical role.
- Hands-on experience with large language models and enterprise cloud or collaboration platforms.
- Practical experience with AI and LLM platforms such as Claude, OpenAI, Gemini, or comparable technologies.
- Background in prompt engineering, AI agents, and agent frameworks.
- Familiarity with Microsoft technologies including Azure, Copilot, Power Platform, and Microsoft 365 development or administration tools.
- Experience working with APIs, Model Context Protocol (MCP), data integrations, and data pipelines.
- Understanding of AI governance, responsible AI practices, and enterprise AI administration.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with clear written and verbal communication.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical business solutions.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across multiple teams.
- Financial services or other regulated industry experience is a plus.
