The Engineering Tech Support β Level 1 role within Northrop Grumman's Space Sector is a hands-on, onsite position based in Dulles, Virginia. This role provides technical support for the integration and testing of spacecraft components, operates on a 9/80 schedule, and may require travel up to 25 percent. DoD Top-Secret clearance eligibility is considered for this position.
Responsibilities
- Interpret intricate work instructions and engineering documentation.
- Assemble electromechanical and electronic components and assemblies.
- Assist in integrating critical spaceflight hardware with strict attention to detail, safety, and quality.
- Fully comply with ISO processes, cleanroom protocols, hazardous material handling requirements, and operational procedures.
- Demonstrate general technical knowledge of mechanical assemblies and proficiency with common hand tools and complex measuring devices.
- Collaborate daily with work center management, engineers, and mechanical leads to report progress and resolve technical issues.
- Work effectively within a diverse team, accepting feedback from Safety and Quality personnel.
- Show strong organizational abilities, adaptability, precision, and a proactive approach aligned with mission success.
- Maintain flexibility for off-shift work, weekends, overtime, and travel up to 25 percent for launch campaign support.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; 0 years of additional education or related experience required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Top-Secret security clearance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Knowledge of electrical measurements (AC/DC, resistance) and mechanical troubleshooting techniques.
- Understanding of clean room operations and spacecraft handling protocols.
- Ability to lift and position objects up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions such as standing, bending, squatting, leaning, and working with tool tethers.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including second and third shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed.
