AI engineer

In this hybrid AI engineering role at WRITER, you will design, build, and deploy production-grade AI systems and AI agents that improve scalability, performance, and ethical alignment of large language models using enterprise data. The position reports to the head of AI engineering.

• USD 198,000 - 259,000 per year

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and deploy high-performance, scalable AI applications into production environments with robust integrations into the end-to-end platform.
• Build intelligent agents and AI-powered features by translating complex research into practical solutions for customers.
• Work closely with research scientists, data scientists, and product managers to define technical requirements and deliver features aligned to business needs.
• Support research and evaluation of emerging AI technologies, frameworks, and tools to maintain leadership in enterprise generative AI.
• Promote responsible AI practices, including bias detection, explainability, and safety alignment, to keep AI trustworthy and ethical.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience building and deploying machine learning or AI systems in production.
• Proficiency in Python and experience with AI/ML frameworks including PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
• Strong foundation in machine learning principles, deep learning architectures, and natural language processing, with particular focus on large language models.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, and with MLOps tools to manage the AI lifecycle.
• Ability to write clean, efficient, and well-tested code for scalable software systems.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and a strong interest in addressing complex technical challenges through creative AI solutions.
• Collaboration across teams, commitment to innovation, and ownership of projects with an emphasis on impact and excellence.
