Job Description
Ryan, LLC is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to design, develop, and deliver secure, scalable AI-driven software systems in a hybrid environment in Dallas, Texas. The role focuses on end-to-end ownership of complex components, including agentic workflows and full-stack delivery across cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Convert business requirements into agentic workflows and production-ready full-stack components including APIs, services, and UIs.
- Produce and document functional and technical specifications for mid-to-large components.
- Build and refine agent orchestration, tool-use, and integrations with an emphasis on correctness, safety, and reliability.
- Implement, review, and maintain high-quality code using modern software development practices.
- Perform design and code reviews with focus on performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Integrate enterprise applications and services using APIs and middleware solutions.
- Conduct feasibility assessments and support application interoperability testing.
- Troubleshoot integration issues and support optimization of connected systems.
- Develop and participate in deploying software in Azure cloud environments, including platform-specific deployment scripts.
- Support build-release troubleshooting and participate in infrastructure-as-code and cloud performance tuning.
- Define agent evaluation strategies using golden datasets, regression suites, scenario coverage, and reliability checks.
- Instrument and monitor agent behavior using tool-call traces, latency and cost metrics, and failure-mode analysis to drive iterative improvements.
- Design and execute complex unit, integration, and automated test cases; analyze test failures and implement fixes and automation contributions.
- Collaborate with QA and DevOps teams to improve CI/CD pipeline capabilities.
- Translate high-level architecture into low-level designs and maintain design artifacts under architects and staff engineers.
- Understand existing system architecture and communicate trade-offs during design sessions with product, UX, and business stakeholders.
- Contribute to feature planning and estimation for enhancements.
- Lead technical discussions, mentor junior engineers, and support knowledge sharing.
Required Qualifications
- Deep understanding of core programming concepts, system design principles, and application performance optimization.
- Hands-on experience building agentic systems with LLMs, including tool-use, orchestration, multi-step flows, verification and validation patterns, and MCPs.
- Proficiency in one or more agentic frameworks: LangChain/LangGraph, OpenAI Agents SDK, Microsoft Semantic Kernel, Microsoft AutoGen, CrewAI, or similar.
- Ability to write clean, efficient, and maintainable code across at least one modern full-stack environment.
- Experience with .NET ecosystem frameworks and ReactJS is a plus.
- Strong debugging skills for complex issues with minimal guidance.
- Proven end-to-end ownership of features or components from design through deployment.
- Accountability for risk identification, early escalation, and resolution planning.
- Strong ability to break down complex problems into actionable technical work.
- Experience conducting code reviews to verify correctness, detect side effects, and ensure alignment with documented standards.
- Clear technical communication across engineering teams and stakeholders.
- Comfort building partnerships with QA, DevOps, Product, and other engineering teams.
- Experience providing constructive feedback in reviews and mentoring junior engineers.
- Ability to prioritize and deliver high-quality, tested, and secure code aligned with sprint goals and timelines.
- Capability to manage multiple competing tasks and changing priorities with discipline.
- Contribute to improving team processes, standards, and tooling.
- Stay current on new technologies and apply relevant practices.
- 6–9 years of software engineering experience with a track record of shipping production-grade systems.
- Demonstrated experience shipping AI/LLM-powered features into real user workflows (agents/agentic-frameworks, RAG, tool-calling, workflow automation).
- Proficiency with full-stack components and technologies including data stores (SQL/NoSQL), Redis, containerization, Kubernetes, and Azure cloud-native services.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD, Docker, and cloud services (AWS/Azure).
- Demonstrated ability to design, test, and debug complex systems in collaborative settings.
- High attention to detail and experience working with large codebases.
- Proactive mindset to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document and present technical concepts.
- Awareness of stalled progress and willingness to ask for help or confirmation.
