Job Description

Nou Systems Inc is seeking an AI Engineer to support the Technical Solutions Division as part of the JSTC2 Team in Huntsville, AL (onsite). In this role, you will prototype generative-AI-powered software for warfighting training exercise participants by developing LLM-powered capabilities and integrating them into Government Off-the-Shelf software used in ongoing exercises.

Your focus is delivering usable improvements to end users on a 10-week cadence, while shaping the work through direct engagement to elicit end user needs rather than relying solely on requirements artifacts.

  • Prototype new LLM-powered capabilities and integrate them into the existing software.
  • Support end-user delivery on a 10-week schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field (Master’s or higher preferred).
  • 5+ years of professional experience in AI/ML engineering, including 2+ years focused on LLMs or similar generative models.

  • Must possess or be able to obtain an active Secret Security Clearance.
  • Proficiency in Python + PyTorch, generative AI frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex), and vector databases (ChromaDB).
  • Ability to deliver production code as an individual contributor without agentic coding support.
  • Experience writing modular, unit tested code that supports integration and end-to-end testing, maintained in source control (Git + GitLab).
  • Experience with Scrum Agile practices, including active participation in ceremonies (standup, sprint reviews, Product Increment planning).
  • Team-focused development practices, including ticket management, constructive peer reviews, and backlog management.
