Job Description

Black Duck Software, Inc. is seeking an Application Security Engineer to implement and deliver its application security products for large enterprise customers. This primarily remote, West Coast–focused role is anchored in Oregon City, OR, with a compensation range of USD 135,900 to 203,900 per year and requires a Bachelor's Degree. The position emphasizes customer enablement, solution design, hands-on delivery, and driving adoption to maximize security value.

Responsibilities

  • Secure development: Educate clients on secure development practices, identify opportunities for improvement, and help optimize their security operations.
  • Customer enablement: Deliver formal client training to foster ongoing self-sufficiency within assigned accounts.
  • Solution design: Collaborate with customers to understand business needs and craft solutions addressing quality, security, and compliance challenges.
  • Delivery: Manage engagements from kickoff to completion with end-to-end ownership of the results.
  • Custom integrations: Develop integrations to weave our tools into SDLC and DevOps workflows.
  • Professional consulting: Serve as a trusted advisor, offering expertise in software testing and security.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to deploy both SaaS and on-premises software solutions.
  • Experience in software development with at least two of the following languages: C/C++, C#, or Java.
  • Strong scripting proficiency in Perl, Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
  • Experience with project scoping and requirements gathering.
  • Familiarity with Continuous Integration and DevOps tools.
  • Solid client consultation and onboarding background.
  • Ability to prioritize activities, set objectives, and meet milestones.
  • Well organized with the capacity to deliver milestones on time.
  • Understanding of open-source libraries such as glib, OpenSSL, Boost C++, and their licensing.
  • Able and willing to travel up to 20 percent as required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science; Master’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Eligible to work in the United States or Canada (West Coast) without sponsorship now or in the future.
