Application Security Engineer - AI Trainer

DataAnnotation is seeking an Application Security Engineer to support AI training efforts focused on cybersecurity. In this contract role, you will review AI-generated security content and help improve how training models interpret real-world threats, vulnerabilities, and defenses.

This work can be fully remote with a flexible schedule, and you can perform assignments from your own computer while contributing feedback that influences the next generation of AI security models.

Role overview

• Train AI systems by evaluating AI-generated cybersecurity content for real-world accuracy and validity.
• Use hands-on security expertise to assess threat analysis, vulnerability assessments, and offensive security techniques.
• Design and solve security-focused technical problems used to train AI models.
• Write clear technical explanations and security-relevant code that supports training quality.
• Provide feedback that directly shapes future AI security model outputs.

Requirements

• 2+ years of hands-on experience in a cybersecurity role such as penetration testing, red teaming, incident response, detection engineering, DFIR, malware analysis, threat intelligence, or adjacent fields, including government or military cyber operations.
• Coding experience required, with comfort navigating and patching a codebase.
• Fluency in English (native or bilingual level) and strong writing skills.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Cybersecurity certifications are a plus, such as OSCP, CRTO, GREM, GCFA, CEH, and similar.

• Pay: $50 to $100 USD per hour (hourly project-based pay)
• Bonus rates: Higher bonus rates may be available for certain projects.
