Applied AI Engineer, Video Agent
Job Description
Join HeyGen and help advance an AI video workflow that turns prompts and assets into finished videos. This Applied AI Engineer role on the Video Agent team blends high ownership with hands-on engineering across agent building, evaluation, and delivery.
Work in a high-velocity environment where you can ship improvements that matter to real users, directly supporting revenue growth. You will collaborate closely with product, design, research, and rendering partners to move an agent from experimentation to polished features.
What you’ll do
- Build the agent by designing the tools, prompts, and context the system uses, improving planning quality, mistake recovery, and performance across long multi-turn conversations.
- Measure quality with evals and offline replays of real sessions. Run experiments using feature flags, review results candidly, and use real user sessions and agent traces to pinpoint failure modes.
- Ship across the stack by building user-facing features with TypeScript and React, and implementing backend services and long-running workflows in Python and Go.
- Partner with others, including product managers, designers, and the research and rendering teams that the agent depends on.
What you bring
- You have built and shipped an AI agent used by real people, where the model calls tools, plans over multiple steps, and acts on results.
- You know how to verify improvement by building evals or test sets for model behavior and distinguishing real gains from noise.
- You are a strong full-stack engineer with 2+ years of professional experience.
- You are fluent in TypeScript and React for the frontend and Python for backend work.
- You have strong product sense and build with customer usage and experience in mind.
- You take ownership: you identify the most important problem, fix it, and communicate what changed.

Nice to have
