Army Vantage Data Engineer

Vista Innovative Solutions is seeking an Army Vantage Data Engineer to support data engineering and applied AI work on the U.S. Army’s Army Vantage platform, built on Palantir Foundry, at Fort Knox, Kentucky (onsite).

Role Overview

This position focuses on designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines, delivering analytics and AI/ML model capabilities, and implementing low-code operational applications that help end users access a consistent, trusted view of operational data. Work includes operationalizing AI through model embedding in AI-enabled workflows and monitoring end-to-end pipeline and model health.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines in Palantir Foundry, including ingestion, transformation, and validation of data from multiple Army source systems and legacy platforms.
• Develop analytics and AI/ML models and create ontology objects to provide users with a consistent, trusted view of operational data.
• Operationalize AI by embedding models into low-code applications (including Workshop and Slate) and AI-enabled workflows (including Palantir AIP) that support readiness, logistics, finance, and personnel use cases.
• Write and optimize transforms using PySpark, Python, and SQL, including feature engineering and preparation of data for model training.
• Collect requirements from Army commanders and staff, translating them into technical and AI-driven solutions.
• Monitor pipeline and model health, troubleshoot failures, and track model performance, accuracy, and drift over time.
• Apply data governance, security, access-control, and responsible AI standards aligned with Army and DoD policy.
• Use an Agile framework to manage tasks and document solutions for the Vantage developer community.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, software development, or analytics, including building ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience using PySpark or comparable distributed data processing tools.
• Experience applying AI/ML (such as predictive modeling, forecasting, NLP, or LLM-enabled workflows) to operational data and putting models into production.
• Strong communication (oral and written) and organizational skills, including the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• CompTIA Security+.
• Active Secret Clearance.

Preferred Experience

• Hands-on experience with Palantir Foundry (Pipeline Builder, Code Repositories, Ontology Manager, Workshop, Slate) and/or Palantir AIP.
• Experience in an Army, DoD, or federal data environment.

Education and Experience

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) and at least 5 years of relevant experience are required.
