Booz Allen Hamilton is seeking an experienced Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Engineer to design, implement, and maintain end-to-end AI/ML systems in support of defense-focused missions. This onsite role in Arlington, VA emphasizes production-grade reliability and modern MLOps practices across mission-critical workloads, with cross-disciplinary collaboration to deliver robust AI solutions across defense and related domains.
Responsibilities
- Design, train, validate, deploy, and sustain end-to-end AI/ML systems, ensuring reliable production performance.
- Own the direction of mission-critical solutions by selecting appropriate algorithms, architecting AI/ML pipelines, and applying contemporary MLOps practices.
- Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, software engineers, and product owners to deliver world-class solutions.
- Provide technical leadership to guide clients through AI/ML toolchains, frameworks, and operational strategies.
- Work with the team to address real-world challenges and shape AI/ML strategy for the Defense sector and adjacent areas.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience as an Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Engineer or Advanced Data Scientist
- Experience deploying and integrating production-grade AI/ML models using Docker or Kubernetes
- Experience with Large Language Models, Deep Learning, or Reinforcement Learning algorithms, along with TensorFlow, PyTorch, vLLM, and Ollama
- Knowledge of MLOps principles and the design and deployment of ML algorithms within operational production systems
- Ability to train, optimize, and integrate AI/ML algorithms across high-throughput text, image, or video data feeds

Compensation
The projected compensation range for this position is USD 77,600 to 176,000 annually (annualized). Salary is determined by factors including location, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, contract-specific affordability, and organizational requirements. This range represents the typical base pay for the role and is one part of Booz Allen's total compensation package.
