Job Description

Contract-to-hire Cyber Security Engineer in Stow, OH (onsite) supporting day-to-day cyber defense operations, incident response, and security practices with hands-on duties and broader IT support responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor security platforms and alerts, investigate incidents, contain threats, and document findings.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to protect systems, networks, and business applications through security administration and governance.
  • Maintain and enhance logging and SIEM capabilities by tuning alert logic, dashboards, correlation rules, and data retention.
  • Conduct vulnerability scans of endpoints, servers, applications, and network assets; coordinate remediation with relevant teams.
  • Assist incident response efforts by reviewing suspicious activity, supporting investigations, and following established response procedures.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of security runbooks, procedures, reports, and other documentation to improve consistency and readiness.
  • Research emerging threats, threat intelligence, and industry advisories to keep the organization current on cybersecurity concerns.
  • Support security awareness initiatives for end users and provide Tier 2 help desk and secondary systems administration support as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum two years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity, systems administration, help desk, network support, or a related technical function.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Working knowledge of SIEM platforms, endpoint protection technologies, vulnerability management, and security event analysis.
  • Familiarity with incident response processes, security monitoring, and defensive administration in enterprise environments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues methodically, prioritize alerts, and clearly document and report findings.
  • Experience with configuration management and general IT infrastructure support in a small-team or cross-functional environment.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+ or Network+ are valued.
