Cybersecurity and Communications Systems Engineer, Senior

Bowhead is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity and Communications Systems Engineer to support a customer on the PICRD II contract in Colorado Springs, CO. This onsite role focuses on planning, risk and cybersecurity assessments, and engineering solutions aligned to USSPACECOM communications and networking requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support planning, assessment, risk analysis, risk management, certification, and awareness activities for system and networking operations.
• Provide engineering and implementation solutions, including assistance with HQ USSPACECOM communications and computer requirement documents.
• Examine mission requirements and help develop technical requirements for multi-level classification networks and releasable classification levels.
• Collaborate with customers and users to develop and review communication system requirements.
• Evaluate communication needs against existing infrastructure, determine shortfalls or excesses, and integrate communication systems to achieve interoperability.
• Conduct risk assessments, cybersecurity engineering, technical security assessments, and recommend solutions.
• Meet with customers and users on a recurring basis to capture needs and provide education on communication systems and the procurement process.
• Participate in planning forums, briefings, conferences, and meetings to provide internal and external resource updates, and perform systems architecture, design, planning, and integration.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Education requirement: BS degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, or Computer Science from an ABET accredited or CAE designated institution.
• Ability to meet the Core and Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Tasks (KSATs) defined in the DoD Cyber Workforce Framework for Work Role 651 (referenced as NIST: SP-ARC-001).
• Experience maintaining security, backup, and redundancy strategies in accordance with government and accreditation standards.
• Experience with operating systems including Solaris, Linux, and Windows, along with servers, VMware (various versions), and multiple versions of Mac operating systems.
• Experience with configuration, installation, vulnerability identification and assessments, and security fortification of fiber and ethernet networks.
• Experience developing and maintaining Communication and Information Systems Installation Records (CSIRs), Preventive Maintenance Inspection (PMI) reports, schematic operational documentation, and systems and technical architecture drawings, including interface drawings and connectivity diagrams between equipment and various LANs, as well as configuration modifications in accordance with requirements derived from communication requirements and the system accreditation process.
• Experience interacting with customers/users to develop and review communication system requirements, assess existing infrastructure for gaps or excesses, integrate systems for interoperability, and maintain a reference library of relevant policies, procedures, documents, and architectures to support planning of future communication systems.
• Experience developing and reviewing Communication Requirement/Technical Solutions (CR/TS).
• Experience maintaining equipment operations through Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMI) and repair schedules.

Additional Details

• Location: Colorado Springs, CO (onsite)
• Salary: USD 130,000 - 145,000 per year
• Minimum Experience: 6 years
