Job Description
Ephesus Solutions is hiring a Cybersecurity Engineer to protect and optimize IT security across on-site environments in Las Vegas.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage network security controls including Cisco ASA firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and SIEM platforms such as Splunk or New Relic to monitor threats.
- Perform vulnerability research, assessments, and penetration testing aligned with NIST and ISO 27000 standards to proactively identify and mitigate risks.
- Strengthen IT infrastructure security by configuring TCP/IP, IPsec, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), and devices from Cisco and Juniper.
- Create and enforce system security plans, implement hardening procedures (SELinux, best practices), and establish incident response playbooks per FISMA, FedRAMP, or DISA guidance.
- Administer identity and access management across cloud platforms (AWS and Google Cloud) using LDAP, Active Directory, SSO solutions, and PKI for secure authentication.
- Support disaster recovery efforts by deploying high availability configurations (load balancing, VMware vSphere) and conducting incident recovery drills to ensure business continuity.
- Partner with development teams to embed security into DevOps practices, deploying CI/CD pipelines with Ansible, Terraform, and related automation tools.
Requirements
- Strong grasp of LAN/WAN concepts, network protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS), routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF), and related network support tools.
- Hands-on experience with firewall management (Cisco ASA), IDS/IPS, VPN technologies (IPsec, SSL VPN), and network monitoring solutions such as SolarWinds or PRTG.
- Solid understanding of cybersecurity frameworks including NIST standards, ISO 27000 series (including ISO
standards), COBIT, DIACAP, RMF and FISMA compliance. - Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash) for automation and system administration on Linux distributions (Ubuntu, CentOS, Debian) and Windows.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and secure PaaS/IaaS deployment design principles.
- Experience in threat detection and response using SIEM tools, performing vulnerability assessments, log analysis, and managing incident workflows.
