Cybersecurity Systems Engineer/Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE)
Job Description
General Dynamics Information Technology is hiring a Cybersecurity Systems Engineer / Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to support critical security accreditation work for assigned systems in Washington, DC (onsite). This role focuses on driving accreditation and authorization outcomes through RMF documentation and A&A project coordination, helping teams reach Authority to Develop (A TD), Interim Authority to Test (IA TT), and Authority to Operate (ATO).
Compensation for this Regular position is expected to be USD 164,382 - 207,000 per year. The work is done on a customer site with no travel required, and the role supports a security program centered on compliance, audit readiness, and emerging-threat awareness.
Responsibilities
- Lead Accreditation and Authorization (A&A) reviews by Group-level ISSMs and Security Controls Assessors (SCA).
- Document security control implementations and gather artifacts that support Risk Management Framework (RMF) and ICD 503 Security Accreditation efforts.
- Develop a general understanding of each project’s architecture to support writing Systems Security Plans (SSP) and CONOPS.
- Coordinate with systems owners, project managers, and engineering team members to produce A&A documentation including Contingency Plan (CP), General User Guide (GUG), Privileged User Guide (PUG), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Document responses and mitigations for Plans of Actions and Milestones (POA&Ms), including evidence gathering from system owners, PMs, and engineering teams.
- Coordinate with contractor and customer personnel to obtain A&A content and navigate the customer’s process to achieve A TD, IA TT, and ATO for primary and secondary systems.
- Monitor A&A projects within the customer’s process and communicate status fluently across all levels.
- Support audit liaison and compliance oversight activities to strengthen the security program and support RMF compliance.
- Perform technical content reviews and edits for document updates, including the Annual ISCM and OA Strategy Plan Update.
- Conduct technical review and update of the control volatility section based on emerging threats, changes to agency security posture, latest IC guidance, agency policy, federal laws, standards, and guidance (including information profile factors such as HVA, TS (SCI), and Secret).
- Provide audit liaison support for internal and external audits and external reporting data calls, and deliver concise, actionable recommendations and process improvement reports.
Requirements
- Technical Training, certification(s), or degree plus 10 years of experience.
- Meets DoD Manual 8570.01-M requirements for the Information Assurance System Architects & Engineer (IASAE) Level II role.
- TS/SCI clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a Polygraph.
- U.S. Citizenship Required.
- On customer site (Washington, DC).
