Job Description

The Field Engineer provides on-site technical support and field coordination for construction projects in Cambridge, OH. This role involves tracking materials, maintaining project documentation, interpreting drawings, and ensuring adherence to specifications. The position works closely with the Jobsite Superintendent, Project Managers, and subcontractors to support site operations and successful construction execution.

Responsibilities

  • Track material delivery status and update the Bill of Materials (BOM) upon receipt.
  • Ensure materials received onsite align with BOM specifications.
  • Expedite resolutions for material delivery discrepancies to prevent project delays.
  • Develop and maintain an organized database of field documentation, including redlines and weld maps.
  • Develop and maintain an organized database of field documentation, including field fabrication spool drawings.
  • Prepare RFIs and internal submittals for the Project Manager.
  • Manage as-builts, material test reports (MTRs), and hydro test records.
  • Track change orders related to materials, equipment, and personnel hours.
  • Ensure field documentation aligns with project contract requirements and company standards.
  • Assist in project punch list development and tracking through timely walkthroughs with customers and inspectors.
  • Interpret and communicate construction drawings, specifications, and project scope to personnel with varying experience levels.
  • Support coordination of site layout and surveying activities.
  • Provide technical assistance to field teams and ensure quality control measures are met.
  • Work closely with subcontractors to monitor progress, resolve issues, and ensure safety and quality standards are met.
  • Track and record time entries for personnel and subcontractors.
  • Process and manage Field Purchase Orders (P.O.s).
  • Maintain and update daily work reports and project schedules.
  • Support the Superintendent with hydro test documentation and test record coordination.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and maintain effective interpersonal relations.
  • Read and interpret civil, mechanical, and electrical drawings.
  • Maintain organized hard copy and electronic file databases.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience in construction, particularly welding fabrication and associated materials, is preferred.

Requirements

  • Preferred: 2 or 4-year technical degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in construction, with emphasis on field engineering, materials management, or project coordination.
  • Experience with project documentation, change order management, and technical compliance.
