Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all activities related to electrical prefabrication and preassembly, ensuring on‑time delivery, budget adherence, and high quality.
- Collaborate with other department managers, project managers, superintendents, and BIM/VDC teams to optimize fabrication processes and ensure compliance with specifications, B&I standards, and building codes.
- Supervise and coordinate the electrical shop team to maintain safe and efficient production.
- Work with BIM/VDC teams to ensure accurate drawings and specifications for fabrication.
- Review submittals to verify equipment, fixtures, and materials meet project requirements; provide feedback to Project Managers and VDC teams.
- Oversee the review of architectural, civil, and structural drawings to verify space and elevation adequacy for MEP systems and address conflicts.
- Manage material procurement, including tools and equipment, to ensure timely delivery in support of production schedules.
- Conduct field visits to review shop drawing content with installation crews and solicit feedback for improvement.
- Evaluate the performance of shop foremen and workers, providing guidance and training to maintain high productivity; conduct timely performance appraisals.
- Implement and monitor Lean manufacturing principles to continuously improve processes and reduce waste.
- Collaborate with other trades to prevent conflicts and ensure smooth project workflow.
- Maintain a strong focus on safety and enforce company policies and OSHA regulations within the shop environment.
- Assist in developing appropriate KPIs and maintain KPI Core Value boards with regular updates for Safety, Quality, and Productivity.
- Mentorship — help others develop into future Electrical Managers, BIM/VDC specialists, and manufacturing shop leaders; train the next level of leadership.
- Develop SOPs, train the team on SOPs, and hold the team accountable for SOP compliance.
Physical and Safety Requirements
This position requires the ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis. The employee must be able to perform tasks involving physical labor, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying materials, tools, or equipment. Manual material handling must be performed in accordance with OSHA safety standards and company policies to minimize risk of injury. Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of Project Engineering experience with a focus in commercial electrical projects.
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) for electrical systems, materials, fabrication, and installation techniques.
- Experience with Lean manufacturing principles and process improvement.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, submittals, and specifications.
- Proficient with construction technology tools (Bluebeam, Evolve, Navisworks, etc.) and MS Office suite (Outlook, Teams, Planner, Power BI, etc.).
- Commitment to complying with all B&I safety procedures.
- Pre‑employment requirements include drug testing, background check, and a clean driving record.
