Field Engineer II
Job Description
Based in Cameron, Louisiana and onsite, Worley is seeking a Field Engineer II to bring seasoned construction-site engineering support to the project. This role centers on ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in line with approved designs and specifications, while you interpret designs, resolve technical issues, and coordinate with construction and project teams.
Responsibilities
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, procedures, and technical documents to verify alignment with project requirements and constructability standards.
- Provide field engineering support during construction, addressing design discrepancies and implementing approved modifications to accommodate field conditions.
- Collaborate with project management, construction supervision, discipline engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to maintain clear communication and successful execution of the work.
- Monitor construction activities and confirm that work is completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, codes, standards, and procedures.
- Evaluate RFIs, field changes, and technical queries, offer recommendations, and coordinate with design teams to resolve issues.
- Make independent technical decisions within established procedures and engineering practices for routine and moderately complex assignments.
- Carry out inspections, field walkdowns, and quality verifications to ensure completed work reflects design intent and quality expectations.
- Participate in constructability reviews and help identify opportunities to enhance execution efficiency and reduce project risk.
- Identify potential schedule, quality, safety, and constructability concerns and propose corrective actions to minimize impacts on project objectives.
- Maintain thorough documentation including field reports, punch lists, change notices, progress updates, turnover packages, and as-built records.
- Join project meetings and provide technical input regarding construction progress, engineering issues, and resolution plans.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support resource planning, material availability, and timely completion of construction activities.
- Ensure on-site work complies with safety regulations, company procedures, and industry standards.
- Support commissioning and turnover activities by verifying the completion of assigned systems and documentation requirements.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Field Engineers I and other less experienced personnel to promote technical development and knowledge sharing.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and assist in developing field engineering processes, procedures, and best practices.
Requirements
- University degree in engineering or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of trade qualification plus additional technical training and relevant experience.
- Typically five or more years of field or construction engineering experience in related industries.
- Experience supporting industrial, energy, chemical, LNG, or infrastructure projects is preferred.
- Solid understanding of construction practices, engineering principles, and applicable standards.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, P&IDs, one-line diagrams, and technical procedures.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot field issues and make sound technical decisions within established guidelines.
- Knowledge of codes, standards, and safety requirements governing construction activities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to interface with multiple disciplines and stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with engineering and document management systems.
- Team-oriented approach with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and project execution excellence.
