Field Service Engineer

JEOL USA, Inc. is hiring a Field Service Engineer to support customers across an assigned territory from an onsite, travel-based work setup in Dayton, OH. In this role, you provide on-site service, installation, and maintenance for JEOL instrumentation, representing JEOL at customer facilities and working closely with scientists and related personnel to get equipment back to reliable operation.

What you will do

• Independently diagnose and repair electron microscopes within the territory
• Systematically analyze what is driving issues impacting customers’ instrumentation
• Resolve problems affecting the instrument, or prepare reports documenting findings and recommendations
• Coordinate and communicate with clients, vendors, and supervisors to support customer satisfaction

Equipment and customer environment

• Provide routine service, installation, and maintenance of JEOL products, including electron microscopes, scanning probe microscopes, ion beam microscopes, and electron beam lithography instrumentation
• Work primarily with scientists and related personnel at customer locations to diagnose and repair JEOL products

Required qualifications

• Associate’s degree in an appropriate area of engineering and/or science, plus minimum 6 months related experience
• Solid electromechanical understanding and troubleshooting experience
• Knowledge of and ability to apply analog and digital electronics
• Valid license and passport
• Travel of up to 30% overnight is anticipated (field service role), and willingness to travel is required
• Excellent customer service skills
• Electronics experience: 1 year (Required)

Compensation

$60,000 - $65,000 per year. The base range reflects the low and high end of the JEOL salary range for this position. Actual salary may vary based on factors including location, experience, and performance.
