Finance Data Engineer

The Product Marketing Customer Analytics team at Apple is hiring a Finance Data Engineer in Austin, Texas (onsite). In this role, you will design and deliver scalable customer analytics data pipelines and platforms that support analytics, data analysis, and data science at pace.

You'll build batch and streaming infrastructure with a focus on reliability and performance, collaborate with analytics consumers and data scientists, and improve data quality through automated checks. The position also includes applying Generative AI and retrieval techniques to strengthen data analytics workflows.

What you’ll do

• Develop and automate large-scale, high-performance batch and/or streaming platforms to enable faster analytics.
• Design large-scale, complex applications and frameworks with strong runtime characteristics including low latency, fault tolerance, and availability.
• Create and maintain custom frameworks that support engineering and analytics needs.
• Work with analytics consumers and data scientists to build and improve constructs and solve data engineering challenges at scale.
• Build data pipelines using Spark, Trino, lakehouse, or similar distributed platforms, including Snowflake.
• Implement inclusive data quality checks to support high-quality datasets.
• Promote strong software engineering practices across data infrastructure and pipelines.
• Apply structured thinking to break down ambiguous problems and propose high-impact solutions.
• Use Generative AI and Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) techniques to enhance data analytics capabilities.
• Maintain strong documentation and technical writing, with clear verbal and written communication.

Minimum qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant Data Engineering experience.
• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, Mathematics, or another quantitative discipline (required).

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering and ETL pipeline development.
• 5+ years of experience in Big Data Technologies such as Spark, Lakehouse, and Trino.
• Experience with Kubernetes and Docker (preferred).
• Familiarity with Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) techniques used with LLMs.
• Experience creating and consuming Model Context Protocol (MCP) services.
• Experience with Snowflake.

Compensation and location

• Location: Austin, TX (onsite)
• Salary: USD 149,200 - 249,000 per year
